FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - Baltimore Orioles manager Dave Trembley downplayed his team's four-game Grapefruit League sweep of the Boston Red Sox while praising its approach this spring.

"The Red Sox are missing a lot of guys in the (World Baseball Classic), but it is good for our guys," Trembley said after Baltimore's 6-2 victory over Boston on Sunday. "We are getting a chance to play a lot of new guys and set some guys up in situations and opportunities. And they are taking advantage of it."

Nolan Reimold hit a go-ahead drive in the eighth for Baltimore. It was his third home run of the spring and second eighth-inning homer against the Red Sox in as many days.

"The last two games have been pretty good for me and I'm just trying to keep it going," he said.

Boston's Clay Buchholz also is trying to keep his solid spring going. He struck out six in 3 2-3 innings against the Orioles, allowing one run and four hits with two walks.

"He's not afraid of contact with his fastball," manager Terry Francona said, "and saying that, he actually threw some fastballs by people, got some swings and misses. But was aggressive with it. I thought as he got into the game, started getting a little better feel for his changeup, breaking ball."

Buchholz, whose struggles last season got him demoted to Double-A Portland in August, has a 1.04 ERA in 11 2-3 innings this spring.

"I think it's a steady process as far as the pitch efficiency to throwing fastballs, getting contact, getting groundballs," he said, "and that's all what goes into being able to start in a big league game."

Brian Bass got the start for the Orioles and allowed two runs, one earned, and two hits in three innings. He threw 51 pitches, 31 for strikes.

"I am just taking the ball when they give it to me," Bass said. "Whatever role they want me to do is fine. Right now, I am going out there with the mentality of being a starter. If they want me to come out of the bullpen, that's fine too."

Chris Waters tossed three scoreless innings for Baltimore, yielding two hits and two walks.
