--OF Jeff Bailey was finally recalled from Class AAA Pawtucket on Wednesday, a day later than expected following Tuesday night's postponement against the Twins due to heavy rain. Bailey takes the place of OF Rocco Baldelli, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday afternoon with a strained hamstring. Bailey gives the Sox an additional right-handed bat on a bench with a good deal of left-handed hitters. To make room for Bailey on Boston's 40-man roster, RHP Devern Hansack was given his unconditional release from the organization.

--SS Nick Green had a rough day in the field amid rain-soaked field conditions. He made three errors in Wednesday's day/night doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins. Green also hit his first home run of the season in the afternoon victory, a two-run shot that rode up and over the Green Monster seats in left field. It was Green's first home run in the big leagues since 2006.

--SS Julio Lugo played his first rehab game for Class AAA Pawtucket on Wednesday and went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts and a walk. He is expected to keep rehabbing and testing his surgically repaired right knee through a weekend of games at Pawtucket, then will be re-evaluated by the Sox medical staff Monday following the Yankees series. "I can't wait," Lugo said. "It's been a long time since I've played up there. It's going to a thrill for me to go back."

SS Jed Lowrie (sprained left wrist) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 12. He had surgery April 21, and he is expected to be out until the All-Star break.

SS Julio Lugo (arthroscopic right knee surgery in March 2009) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He began a rehab assignment with Class AAA Pawtucket on April 22.

OF Mark Kotsay (back surgery in January 2009) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He was rehabbing in Fort Myers, Fla., in mid-April, and he hopes to return in May.

RHP John Smoltz (right shoulder surgery in June 2008) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He was rehabbing in Fort Myers, Fla., in mid-April, and he expects to pitch for the Red Sox in June, barring any setbacks.

OF Jonathan Van Every (sprained right ankle) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He might be activated April 24.

RHP Miguel Gonzalez (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on April 14.
