SEATTLE - The score was tied in the fifth inning yesterday, but that would surely change. 

: --DH David Ortiz was given a mental health break during the entire three-game series against the Seattle Mariners and didn't register an at bat in the entire series. 

The Red Sox should have predicted -- and most likely did given their effort to collect as many arms as possible for their starting rotation over this past winter -- exactly what's happening to an exasperated Jon Lester this season. 

--SS Julio Lugo suffered a hip flexor injury/groin injury in the seventh inning of Saturday night's game against the Seattle Mariners and missed Sunday afternoon's road trip finale with the injury. 

Despite a slow start, the Tribe will be reluctant to deal Victor Martinez. 

Big Papi's big hiatus is coming to an end. 

The Mariners started three pitchers expected to be in the minors right now, and got little production out of Ken Griffey Jr. 

Slumping slugger David Ortiz watched from the bench as his Boston Red Sox teammates hit their most homers in three weeks to win their last time out. 

Jason Bay slugged his 11th homer of the season in the first, Jason Varitek hit a two-run shot an inning later and Jeff Bailey also connected accounting for all of Boston's runs in a 5-3 win over the Seattle Mariners Saturday night to snap a three-game ski 

Jason Bay reacted to the first fastball he saw and slugged it into the bullpen in left field. 

Daisuke Matsuzaka could be back on the mound by the end of next week for the Boston Red Sox. 

Terry Francona is giving Big Papi an extended rest this weekend.
